It's been a while since I've posted. I haven't had much energy to put forth into stuff like this, but I wanted to share with you the last 2 weeks. September 5, 2008 is a day that will forever be etched into my mind. It is the day that my dear, sweet, baby sister, Lacie, was taken from us. She was tragically killed in Tuscaloosa when she crossed over train tracks. I know some of you are thinking, well my goodness, why wasn't she looking? I don't know what exactly happened. I do know that she had crossed over the tracks one time that morning and she had stopped to make sure nothing was coming, she crossed over and then turned around immediately. We are thinking to get her cell phone. I guess in her mind, she thought, well, I just crossed them a few seconds ago and it was clear, so I'm just going to go back across. She didn't make it across. Coming from the direction that she got hit, you have to go up a steep hill and the tracks are at the very top, and you can't really see if a train is coming. There are no warning lights or cross arms there to let anyone know. I hope to make a difference and get some type of warning signal put at rural crossings in Lacie's name. She was the 3rd person to be killed at this particular spot. How senseless is that? I just want you all to pray for myself and for our family. I cannot even fathom what has really happened right now. I feel like I'm in a bad dream that I can't wake up from. I will always miss my only sister. She had the sweetest, softest voice and the prettiest blue eyes of any person I've ever met. She will be missed by many and loved by all. Please pray for the train conductor. I cannot begin to imagine what he is going through right now.
Here are a few pictures of my beautiful sister that I wanted to share. The first two were taken a week or so before she died. The third is a picture of her and her niece, Briley. (My stepsister, Chasity's daughter, Lacie and I shared the same father and her and Chasity shared the same mother)
The fourth is of her in her friends mustang, and the last is one of she and I together. I wanted to show how much she and I favor about 4 years ago.
Thank you for looking, reading and praying for us. Much love to you all.
